Week 3: New Tools, New Troubles.
Week two was a game of learning by doing.
I worked on brand guidelines, and after presenting them to the client, I found a misalignment between their vision and mine. That led to my first client call, which was nerve-wracking but invaluable. Once I understood their direction more clearly, I did get it right on the second try. PHEW!
I also overlooked the post-production after my first shoot in the week 1, for which I had to work with an editor. Premiere Pro was a BIG challenge for me, but I picked it up thanks to my extremely patient coworkers.
But the real learning came in my collaboration with the content writer. I had always heard about the debate — should content come first or the design? This week, I lived it.
There were times when I had to show the content writer the visuals to help her craft the right copy and other times, I had to adjust my design because of her content. It was a constant back-and-forth, but it taught me just how crucial clear communication is between content and design.
By the end of the week, we had everything ready, all deadlines met and I walked away with a big takeaway: collaboration really makes or breaks the project.
